In kindergarten, my teacher asked me what number came before 9. I said 7.
In first grade, I got in trouble every single day for talking to my classmates.
In second grade, my mom took me to get a cupcake at the end of each week as a reward for not getting in trouble.
Okay, but what does this all mean?
Well, first off, it means I’ve been thinking outside the box from a very young age and finding creative solutions—even if they weren’t always considered “correct.”
Secondly, I love making friends and have an unnatural gift for maintaining small talk. But now, after 21 years of experience, I no longer get scolded for my overt friendliness.
Lastly, I have the biggest sweet tooth you’ll probably ever encounter.
With all that being said, I found that a degree in advertising at Indiana University as the perfect intersection of all my interests: creativity, problem-solving, and human connection—all rolled into a career. So now I’m here, ready to make some friends, eat some sweets, and challenge what everyone else wants to call “correct.”
